I live by faith, love and infinite gratitude to Jehovah God as though Armageddon is coming today. However, I continue to prepare secularly as though it won't come anytime soon!
It's what works for this particular JW.

the january wt has some good stuff in it.
the basic message is that armageddon is just about to come, god will kill people, and jws will be spared because they use gods name (of all things!
he is really picky about that name!).

just saw this posted on watchtower uncensored .... .
want to hear the latest debacle?
the po in my mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of every publisher to put 3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall.
3 Euros?! That's cheap! Talk about 'cost effective'; good job on the part of the Organization! Kudos!!!
I'm sure there will be way more than that worth of contributions for that and any other assembly. Here in the States it works out that way all the time.
We JWs are well aware that gatherings, KHs, etc., bring costs that must be covered by us the members. Come now, what's the big deal here?
We're getting quite pathetic about the things we complaint about lately, aren't we?!

first post here, thought i'd start off with a news article from today (i used to live in tpa area, btw).
man accused of threatening religious workers.
spring hill deputies say two jehovah witnesses' quest for spreading peace and religion was interrupted by a man who pointed a gun and cursed at them as they approached his home.rudolf hellmold, 52, was charged with aggravated assault after deputies say he pointed a small silver handgun at the two victims while they were going door-to-door, according to a hernando county sheriff's office report.. the report showed that one of the victims told deputies that as they approached the house at 1355 osowaw boulevard, hellmold stood at a window near the front door, displayed a gun and yelled, "you (expletive) jehovah witnesses get the (expletive) off my property!".
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!
Poor idiot. All he had to do is request that we do not knock on his door and we'd proceed to mark it in the territory notes. Easy!
Now the jerk has added up to his police record and will shell out some valuable money in bail. Hurt only himself!
Oh well, it's common history among all that attempt against God's people delivering his message here on earth. Don't you all go doing this stupid move now!
DY
are some of you scared that armageddon may be coming anytime?
lol.
just the thought and the picture in your head that anybody can get killed....>.<.
History has always helped in determining future events.
Humanity has made it through many chaotic conditions throughout its existence, and this only seems extreme because it is the condition that we're experiencing. So, I don't think the Biblical event Armageddon is anywhere near. Ever since the 1975 fiasco, I've stopped altogether going by the Organization's expectations.
Deep in my heart of hearts I believe that if I live to be 100+, I still won't see God's Kingdom established here on earth, although I sure pray for it every single day. I continue my spiritual journey in the Organization by faith, love and gratitude to Jehovah God, not by the expectation of Armageddon.
I attend my meetings, do my field service, and apply the Bible teachings in my personal life as best as I can, but at the same time I continue to better myself secularly and continue conducting my economical business as though I'll live long enough to need a good retirement plan and good savings in my old age.
Just the other day I was discussing with fellow JWs of my generation how much economical trouble will be at the doorstep of the 60+ JW generation that did not prepare financially to survive in their old age in this system of things. I look around in my congregation and so many are already draining the government worth of public assistance because they didn't build enough employment credits for a good SS pension, job pension, or savings. Several are forced to relocate to other countries where their US money will help them survive better.
If this system lasts, as I trust it will, and of course unless a most tragic event unfolds in my life, I'm ready to live in my old age the same as I do now in my youthful years.
Do not fear, continue living with much optimism!

humans are unique.
each one is unique in his/her own regard.
like your thumbprint, your life is unlike any life in existence.. .
I have a little problem with not being able to fully and openly celebrate my birthday and that of my loved ones due to Biblical principles. Having said that, I have my own personal little rituals that celebrate my birthday privately, and I know of several JWs that have their own personal rituals to observe the special day in a private manner.
Then again, as big an Organization and as clicky as we all are, if we were to have birthday celebrations, we'd be celebrating each day, and yes, then it sure would be most distracting from what's really important in these difficult times: The preaching work.

a couple of posts by hamsterbait motivated me to post this.. the elimination of the book study: it was the only place where those who were shy, or anxious, about commenting would comment.
it was small, intimate and we had a lot of fun.
remember the "f" word?
Are you kidding?! I absolutely loved it when they eliminated the bookstudy meeting!!! That meeting was a pure nuisance!
I'm still keeping hope alive that they'll do away with one of the assemblies, hopefully the 2-day circuit one; just keep the 1-day special day and lessen the district assembly by one day to be just Saturday and Sunday. As I get older, I get tired of hearing the same old thing over, and over, and over.....
It's a pipe dream, I know. Then again, who would've thought back in the day that they'd cut the bookstudy? So, it might actually happen!
Keeping hope alive!!!

to cut very long story short , my inlaws have not seen my child for 18months we left the area they live 2 years ago after a ex min servant was sent to prison for abusing kids including my eldest child , understandably i wanted a fresh start !
today my jw motherinlaw tried to give her disfellowshipped son ten pounds for our child (her granchild she hasnt seen for 18 months ) he asked her why ?
she told him i told her it was best if they didnt see our child anymore just before i left town (half hour drive away from our new home ) this is not true at all !
Looloo,
I'm glad to hear the person who molested your child is in prison, where all child molesters belong. However, about your main complaint on contacting Bethel regarding what you perceive to be 'unloving' behavior of a member, please understand that the Organization shares the Biblical teachings with its members but it's up to the person individually to apply it in their personal life.
On the other hand, if I understood correctly based on what you wrote, you had an adulterous affair with their son, perhaps one of the reasons that got him disfellowshipped, then you moved away which made it the more inconvenient to see the grandchildren; you must admit that, with your own behavior, you've all created the scenario and now you complaint about it?! Look in the mirror, my dear, and own up!

how they're feeling, coping?.
well, do you?.
thanks to those who respond.. syl.
I love everybody here!
This is why I keep dropping my two cents every so often, to see if anyone here recovers their good thinking and comes back into the fold!
In the meantime, keep checking www.watchtower.org for your own peace of mind and life guidance.

i seem to have a bit of confusion concerning the purpose of this website and the people in it.
perhaps i am not computer savvy and do not understand some of the expressions used.
could someone comment and help clarify.. .
For me, it's a nice venting venue for some small silly frustrations of my own with the Organization. Also, it's a place where I sometimes defend the Org from the vast majority of liars and disgruntled members here.
Totally mixed feelings about it, but it really doesn't matter one bit as I don't spend much time here at all.
Just have fun with it; take the useful and leave the rest alone. Hopefully, as it happened to me, soon you'll find there isn't much useful stuff at all here and you'll find more productive ways to spend your time.

hi guys!
im very new here and i need a little help.. im not a witness, but i know all of the quirks and rules and whatnot because my long-distance boyfriend is a witness.
the issue, other than the obvious, is that i fell in love with him before he told me he was one of jehovahs witnesses.
A definite no-brainer. If he's a real JW, he'd never show any interest in a non-JW. So, that act alone goes to show his commitment to the religion is.....ZERO!
The behavior applies to other faiths and lifestyles as well.
